  6. Open Finder for current directory from command line

I just learned how to open a Finder window directly from the command line.

    $ open .

Yes, it’s actually that easy, and the open command is quite handy some times. This is from the open man page.

The open command opens a file (or a directory or URL), just as if you had double-clicked the file’s icon. If no application name is specified, the default application as determined via LaunchServices is used to open the specified files.

This means that you can actually open anything from the command line with the open command. Go ahead and try it out!

Very handy when using with VisorTerminal.

  9. LÖVE

Hi there! LÖVE is an *awesome* framework you can use to make 2D games in Lua. It’s free, open-source, and works on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

LÖVE is licensed under the liberal zlib/libpng license. That means you can use it freely for any purpose — including commercial ones.

    Download

Try it! It’s super-easy. Just check out the hello world example on the wiki.

    Documentation

The wiki will help you get started, and contains a description of the entire API. It is collaboratively edited by LÖVE users — getting bigger and better every day.

Also, the wiki theme is pretty cool.

    Community

If you get stuck, many friendly people are ready to help you at the forums. Be warned, however, that it sometimes gets too friendly.

People also post their games and projects on the forums, so it’s a nice way of exploring what LÖVE can do. Or at least what people choose to use it for.

There is also an IRC channel: #loveclub@irc.freenode.net.

    Contribute

You can find the source code on Bitbucket. You can also file bugs and feature requests there.

    Don’t forget to have fun
